The Moire Collection is inspired by optical illusions–it translates scientific principles into visual depth and movement. Each family in the collection–Striae, Melange, Ripple, and Mirage–offers a contemporary interpretation of how light, and color can create the essence of movement in a variety of living spaces.

The Striae pattern-family uses a variety of overlapping hues, tones, and curves to create the illusion of solid color. The tones and optical distortions it creates are richer and more nuanced than simple flat patterning would be. When viewed close-up Striae seems to jitter with vibrant color, and when viewed from a distance the pattern seems to stand still.
The Ripple pattern-family became an homage to the soft rolling lines of waves and sand dunes. Ripple behaves like a graphic print, with its reduced palette and matter-of-fact line movement.
With the Melange pattern-family I was curious to see if I could make the patterns feel like they were emerging from a fog of color. As the waves of color pass over and under one another natural moments of density and openness are created. The layered rhythm of these moments lend Melange a softness that takes time to uncover.
With the Mirage pattern-family I wanted to create a much more reduced and graphic pattern where the stripes and curves begin to create the illusion of surface curvature. Although it is comprised of a minimal color palette, the winding curves of Mirage create a very subtle illusion of fabric dancing and rippling in a breeze.
