When creating Pinch my process started in the Middle East, specifically Bahrain. where I was visiting an anthropological museum, when I noticed indigenous ancient oil lamps made from clay. Their forms were simple and beautiful, and I knew I wanted to create something that had the same power as those oil lamps from so long ago; they looked simultaneously contemporary, and ancient. My goal was to make a gesture and process tangible and eternal.
